2003-2008 Timeline and Major Milestones

As of June 20, 2003 we became the owners of the 6 acres land on Stearns Rd, 1/2 mile South of I480 Stearns exit in Olmsted Township. On January 7, 2005 we complete the acquisition of the land and house located in between the two lots. We now have over 8 acres.
 

The loan on the land purchased in 2003 is paid off. We have much more to pay off including the church.

2008

January

Mortgage on the two lots purchased in June 2003 was paid off.

Meeting with the architect to review church layout.

March

The architect presented plans for the church layout.

2007

February

Building Committee in its meeting on 22nd of February selects Mann Architects as principal architect to develop the preliminary layout plans for the new social hall and church.

Two wells located on the property are sealed at the request of the Cuyahoga County Health Department.

 

June

Building Committee meets at Olmsted Falls High School with Cuyahoga County Engineer about Stearns Rd improvements. The work is planed to start May, 2008 and complete in 2010. The section of Stearns Rd between I480 and .2 mi South of Cook Rd will be upgraded from 2 to 3 lanes, sanitary sewer and water lines will be added.

 

July

Fund raising picnic was held again at the old church.

 

August

Building Committee meets with David Mann, the architect. He presents layout of Social Hall that included the church. Building Committee decided that the foot print of the building should not exceed 16,500 sq. ft.

 

October

Building Committee meeting with the architect. Layout of the Social Hall is accepted by the Building Committee and we concentrate on the church layout. Pending the acceptance of the church layout the architect proposed a meeting with parishioners for a Power Point presentation sometime in the first quarter of 2008.

 

 

2006

February

At the Annual General membership meeting the assembly decided to further improve the site by demolishing the house and the detached garage. Also to provide for more space for future picnics the membership decided to deforest an area of about 2 acres.

 

June

On 25th day of June Building Committee is established: Rev Fr Ion Gherman, Serban Constantinescu, Radu Lupu, Dorel Stroie, Alexandru Suba.

 

   

 

July

Tree cutting on approximate 2 acres

Building Committee contacted two architectural firms and requested proposals for the project: Studio Techne and Zarzycki-Malik.    

Fund raising picnic is held at the existing church in Rocky River on 30th day of July due to the weather condition. This time “Banatul” orchestra volunteers to entertain our parishioners.

 

 

 

October

Representatives from two more architectural firms, Wolf & Maison and Mann Architects met and discussed the project with the Building Committee. 

 

 

2005

January

Final land acquisition of the property located at 6989 Stearns Rd in  between the 2 lots. On the approximate 2.4 acre there was a 3 bedroom house, detach garage and a shed.

 

June

House is vacated by the previous owner end of June

 

July

Start preparing/cleaning the grounds for a future get together with all parishioners.

 

 

August

Continue preparing the grounds for a picnic. We demolish the shed.

 

 

 

First funds raising picnic held on the future site of the new church. “Transilvania” Orchestra provided entertainment and everybody had a great time.

June

The church acquires 2 lots totaling 6 acres in Olmsted Township on Eastern side of Stearns Rd, ˝ mile south of I480 Stearns exit.
